With the PlayStation 5 literally just days away from release, there’s going to be a slew of next- gen experiences you won’t want to miss out on. However, that doesn’t mean you’ll want to cut off the supply of PlayStation 4 games you can play on it.
Several games will not only be backward compatible with the PS5 hardware, but also enhanced with better features and faster frame rates and load times. That’s not to say every title will have it across the board, but there will be plenty to go around. Not to mention the PlayStation Plus
Collection, which launches on day one with a number of playable PS4 titles.
So what games should you enjoy on the PS5 first? We’ve got a few suggestions that you can easily add to your collection…
Spider-Man Remastered
While some folks are complaining about some of the changes to Peter Parker in this “enhanced” version of the 2018 favorite (probably the same ones that had something to say about puddles – remember those?), the overall technical achievements going into Spider-Man Remastered on PS5 are something else.
Along with 60 frames per second speed, the game will also feature a number of visual improvements, along with greater gameplay response through the PlaySense controller.
Now, there is a catch. At the moment, the only way you can play Spider-Man Remastered on PS5 is if you purchase the best edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. But hey, consider it a sound investment. You get the full Spidey experience on PS5 for a great price. So you can experience the beginning, and then get right into the continuation. That’s a steal for us.
God of War
As you can see from the trailer above, a sequel to God of War is officially coming to PlayStation 5, possibly sometime next year. However, while we wait for Ragnarok to come our way, there’s always the original to enjoy.
The 2018 tour-de-force in action remains a great game to play today; and on the PlayStation 5, it’ll be better than ever thanks to a number of enhancements. Expect a number of gameplay features to roll with the PS5 controller, along with beautiful 60 frames per second action and a whole lot of carnage, as only Kratos can deliver.
We’re definitely down to give this a run again, if only to finally conquer it on its highest difficulty.
Days Gone
Days Gone got quite a bit of attention on the PlayStation 4 a while back when it released. But there’s no better time to experience it again than on the PS5, especially with Sony putting a few tweaks on the action to make it look better than ever.
Expect 60 frames per second animation with Days Gone once everything is refined and said and done, along with some possible new content to keep fans coming back for more. And considering it’s a key inclusion in the PlayStation Plus Collection, there’s no reason you shouldn’t mow down a few hundred zombies on a Friday night.
Ghost of Tsushima
We can’t gush about the latest from Sucker Punch enough. Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece in every possible way, from traditional swordsmanship in the gameplay to awesome visuals that would make your eyes pop out of your head. And let’s not forget the co-op content that just dropped for it as well, adding a new degree of challenge to the game.
But the developers are setting out to make the game even better on PS5. Expect some faster frame rates, even during the most chaotic of battles; as well as quicker load times with the help of the console’s Game Boost system. Oh, and what’s more, your game saves will be compatible, so you don’t have to start all the way over at the beginning. Whew.
And, yes, Legends, the co-op mode, will work on the system. Go on, gather your friends.
Bloodborne
Oh, so you think Demon’s Souls is going to be a difficult game? Let’s introduce you to a little something put together by From Software a few years back.
In Bloodborne, you’ll slice and dice your way through a number of challenging foes in a dark, foreboding town, while upgrading your weapons and soaking in the nice visuals.
Though Sony hasn’t confirmed a remastered version just yet, Bloodborne will be playable on PS5 from day one. And more than likely, it’ll look better than ever – though you’ll still need the skills to play it. You’re on your own there.
