Hitman Developer Working On A New James Bond Game, Project 007

It’s been years since we’ve seen a proper James Bond video game. In fact, the last two from Activision, Blood Stone and 007 Legends, eventually led to the closure of their responsible developers, Bizarre Creations and Eurocom. But now, a confident new studio has stepped up, ready to provide their own take on the legendary license – and they’re a killer.
This morning, IO Interactive, the devs behind the Hitman franchise (including the upcoming Hitman III), announced that it was producing Project 007 alongside MGM Studios, Eon Productions and Delphi. The teaser is below, and though very little is known about the game, it’s a very exciting prospect indeed.

Though the trailer doesn’t have any details about what kind of gameplay to expect, it’s likely that some of Hitman’s elements could make it in. It will be based around “a wholly original Bond story,” one that could very well explain his origins – despite the fact that Dr. No kind of did that back in the 60’s.
With the game, players can step “into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status,” which means you could be building up his skills as you go along.
The game is still very early in development, with IO Interactive still hiring on talent to help with its creation. So it’ll be a while before we see it come to fruition. Nevertheless, it should be a solid title once it comes out.
And who knows, the way it keeps getting delayed, the game might release alongside the long- anticipated No Time To Die Bond film, which is currently slated (but not guaranteed) for sometime in 2021.
In the meantime, IO Interactive will release Hitman III early next year.
