Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Keep Your PlayStation 5 In An Enclosed Space

The PlayStation 5 arrives in just a matter of days, and people everywhere can’t wait to get their hands on the hardware. However, when you do, just make sure you give it a nice open space in your entertainment center. Confining it isn’t the greatest of ideas. The reason for this? Well, apparently there was a unit that was on display at Best Buy over the week, but it was kept in an enclosed case. While the Twitter user that shared the information was impressed to see the system, he also saw an interesting message, indicating that the system had somehow overheated.

In another set of pictures, we get a closer look at the unit where the PlayStation 5 was kept. It was apparently put into a secure case to keep people from messing with it – but that turned out to be its undoing when it came to overheating.

So what does this mean? Well, it’s an early demo unit, so more than likely, Best Buy employees managed to cool it down and keep it going. But it’s a clear indication that when you do get a PlayStation 5 next week, you’ll want to keep it in a spot where the fan can blow freely, without hot air building around it. Otherwise, you could potentially have an overheat situation and that may cause a problem, forcing it to shut down.
Sony hasn’t said anything on the matter, but more than likely, as we get closer to the system’s launch, we’ll see tips on how to store it and put it in your entertainment center. For now, save a good spot for it, one where it’s got room to, ahem, vent.
The PlayStation 5 arrives on November 12th, along with a number of games.
