EA’s Current Releases will see Vast Improvement on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X

So as you know by this point, anyone that plays PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S/X, respectively, will see some notable improvement from those games. But now EA is joining the fray, as it’s detailed a number of changes that will come with some of their current-gen releases once the systems launch.
As first detailed in Game Informer, these changes could be significant for both consoles, with games like Apex Legends and Star Wars Squadrons getting huge focus. Let’s break down how each one will change as you make the shift to next-gen starting next week.

Apex Legends
The hit battle royale game will see a vast improvement in resolution, up to 1440p from 1980’, and other next-gen enhancements will be introduced as the new year comes around. Hopefully we’ll see some modes and other visual touch-ups.

FIFA 21
We already know the next-gen version is coming, but the previous versions will work as well, with the same standards as the most advanced consoles. So the PS5 version will run as smoothly as the PS4 Pro; and the Xbox Series X version akin to the Xbox One X edition. The next-gen version, meanwhile, launches on December 4th.

Madden NFL 21
The current-gen versions won’t see significant improvements over the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions, but they will have better load times and a slightly faster framerate. And don’t forget, the next-gen version for both systems launches on December 4th as well.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered
Don’t expect too big a boost to this game when it launches next week, as it’ll run the same as it would have on a PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X. Still, we’ve heard good things, so hit the ground revving for this one.

NHL 21
Though the general performance won’t change much with any big new features, NHL 21 will see better framerates, along with shorter load times so you can get right into the action. At the moment, a next-gen version isn’t planned, but that could change by this time next year.

The Sims 4
While there won’t be too many improvements with this game on next-gen, it will run nicely on both systems, and load times shouldn’t be too big a deal.

Star Wars Squadrons
Over on the PS5, the game will run just as smoothly as it did on PlayStation 4 Pro. However, on Xbox Series S and X, you’ll have the option to switch between better performance and better visual quality. With visual, you’ll get 60 frames per second speed at 2160p resolution. Go with performance, however, and you’ll be able to go even higher with 120 frames per second. You can also switch on Variable Refresh Rates if your TV supports it.

UFC 4
Finally, don’t expect too many big changes with this brawlathon. However, do expect frame rates to be a bit zippier, along with a slightly faster speed. You’ll feel the punches that way, yeah?

Both systems arrive at retail next week!
