The Haunting of Verdansk is Ready to Haunt Call of Duty Players

Halloween is just around the corner, and a lot of video games are celebrating the occasion with special goods. However, Infinity Ward and Activision aren’t holding back on their content, as they have a whole slew of stuff going on within the world of Call of Duty.
Some particular horror heroes have stopped by the game with special bundles; and there are a lot of goodies you can pick up as well, including some rather spirited weapons. And then there’s Zombie Royale, which should keep you busy well into the first week of November.
Let’s break down all the special components featured in the Haunting of Verdansk event, which is happening now in both Modern Warfare and its packed multiplayer mode, Warzone.

Bring Out Your Dead
First off, there’s an interesting twist when it comes to playing in Warzone, as your operator may not stay dead after they’re taken out of action. It’s Zombie Royale, and it’s pretty nuts.
“When the clock strikes midnight in Verdansk, it’s time to bring out the undead. Operators can fight against and alongside powerful zombified creatures as part of Zombie Royale, a limited-time mode where death is far from permanent,” the company explained in a press statement.
“Instead of being sent to the Gulag, dead Operators will come back to life as a zombie. Although zombies cannot use weapons, they have supernatural abilities: increased speed, improved jumps, deadlier melee attacks, and thermal vision.”

That said, there is a catch – they’ll need to find two syringes left behind by other players in order to continue their plight. Warzone’s maps will also take place at night at times, which means there’s plenty of room for spooky delights to come across – not to mention the pure opportunity of getting a surprise jump on your opponents. Who says you have to play during the day?! Along the way, you’ll also be on the hunt for Supply Boxes in a special Trick-or-Treat style of way, and locating them will net you a few surprises that could help turn the tables in your match-up.

Live or Die, Pick Your Horror Hero
There are 16 “surprises” hidden throughout the event, and if you manage to come across them all, you’ll earn a Legendary Blueprint. This will enable you to unlock a rather cool in-game
gun, like a creepy jack-o-lantern inspired rifle or a black and red gun that would make Batman blush with its motif.
But there’s more where that came from. Some serious starpower is joining the fight, with two successful horror franchises featured. Saw and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will take center stage, with skins featuring Billy the Puppet and Leatherface to dress up in. Alas, we didn’t see a chainsaw just yet, but the event is within its early days.
Activision added, “Other operators are preparing for the Haunting of Verdansk in their own ways, whether with new skins or brand- new blueprints that add a scary amount of firepower to an already massive arsenal. Leading this charge is Dr. Karlov, an infamous Verdansk urban legend that defines the regional Halloween folklore.”
The special skins are available as part of bundles, with full details available in the Call of Duty game. Feel free to pick and choose which psycho (or psychos) to dress up as, and go nuts.

Check out the trailer below to see this event in action, and hurry! You’ve only got until November 3rd to collect its many tricks and treats. We’ll see you on the battleground.
