Mortal Kombat 11 goes Next-Gen with Ultimate and Brings John Rambo Along for the Ride

You didn’t really think the Mortal Kombat 11 story concluded with Aftermath, did you? Nope.
Even though this year’s earlier expansion – featuring the video game return of Robocop – entertained fans, NetherRealm Studios believed that wasn’t enough. So, this morning, the
developer promptly confirmed the Ultimate upgrade to the hit fighting game, which has now sold over eight million copies.
Set for release on November 17th, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate brings together all the components from previously released packs, along with three new characters. The water-based ninja Rain makes his return, along with fan favorite Mileena, who’s as feisty as ever. But most importantly, another movie star is debuting in the series – John Rambo.

That’s right, the iconic warrior will be playable in this fighting game, matching up against the likes of the Terminator and several others. What’s more, NetherRealm has brought in Sylvester
Stallone to voice the iconic character. You can hear a bit of him in the trailer above.
And Mortal Kombat also isn’t wasting any time jumping into the next generation. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as a free upgrade for those that purchased a previous edition for PS4 or Xbox One, respectively. Xbox owners will see it as a Smart Delivery title; while PS5 owners will automatically receive the upgrade.
Finally, NetherRealm confirmed that crossplay will be coming to the Xbox and PlayStation
versions of Ultimate. However, they noted that “select modes,” most likely versus based. Still, that’s a pretty big step.
Check out the trailer above and prepare to go Ultimate next month!
