EA Sports Pulls a Hockey Surprise Onto the Gaming Ice with NHL 94 Rewind!

With NHL 21 set to debut in less than two weeks, fans are set to hit the ice with the hockey sim in a big way. That said, EA Sports has a hell of an incentive for those that put in a pre- order for it – a blast from the past.
The company announced on its official website today that it will bring back the 16-bit hockey classic NHL 94, but with an interesting twist. While the game looks and plays the same as that old-school favorite, it will have updated statistics and players from NHL 21. In other words, a little bit of the new added in with the classic stuff.
Now, there is a catch. The game isn’t available for separate purchase, but only as a bonus for those that pre-order the game. That means if you want it, you’ll need to buy NHL 21 up front.
What’s more, you’re going to have to wait a bit for it to arrive, as it won’t be downloadable until later in the month, on October 30th. That’s for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so one platform won’t have an advantage over the other.
There’s also no word if the game will have online play. More than likely, it’s local only. Also… no bleeding Gretzky this time around. But, come on. We’re getting a classic NHL experience on the house with the game we’re all going to play anyway, and you can totally take on a friend or family member in the living room. And all hockey clubs will be represented, including the Las Vegas Knights team. So that’s something.
Check out NHL 21 when it launches on October 16th, with NHL 94 Replay coming two weeks later on October 30th. And now, enjoy some classic NHL 94 action, straight from Classic Steve!
