Sony Set to Reveal PS5 Launch Details

Earlier this year, Sony gave us a look at its upcoming PlayStation 5 console, and several games that were on the way for it, including new entries in the Ratchet and Clank, Spider Man and Horizon: Zero Dawn franchises. But one question remains about the system – when will we be able to play it, and how much will it set us back?
Sony has been remaining pretty mum about the whole ordeal. But next week, it looks to finally reveal what we’ve all been waiting for – those crucial details that will finally let us know when we can put one in our living room.

The PlayStation 5 Showcase Is Coming
On September 16 around 1:00 PM PDT (at this web page), Sony will host its latest Showcase, in which we’ll likely see more of its launch games in action, along with a few announcements of current-gen games making the leap. But, more importantly, this should be the place where it finally tells us when it’ll be available for purchase – and, hopefully, how we can get one.
Considering Microsoft has revealed when we can get an Xbox Series X, it’s crucial for Sony to show off what it’s got planned for the PS5, so both consumers and retailers can get ready for its eventual launch. We’ll hopefully have those details in tow, along with a few other surprises.
In the blog post, Sid Shuman, senior director for SIE Content Communications, noted the length of the presentation. “Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.” Note he didn’t say anything about launch details, but considering Microsoft has the jump on Sony at the moment, it’s bound to happen.

So How Much Will It Be?!
Pricing will be an important factor here. The system will likely be around $499, around what Microsoft will sell the Xbox Series X for when it arrives this November. There’s a slight chance it could be higher than that, but we remember the last time Sony priced hardware at $599, right? The PlayStation 3 back in 2006… and we saw how that went.
More importantly, we’ll get an idea of what games will be ready for launch. Keep in mind that dates weren’t given for the games that were revealed earlier this year, so, hopefully, we’ll see at least one or two of those that will be ready to go from day one. Wednesday’s presentation should help out with that.
We’ll see what’s in store in just a few days, and report all the breaking details here! Get ready, gamers.
