Sony Reveals PS5 Launch Details

Yes, There’s a Price and Release Date
Yep, the PlayStation 5 will be available in two models. The digital edition will be $399 USD ($479 CAD), while the regular disc-taking model will be $499 USD ($579 CAD). It’ll be available on November 12, making for a very interesting retail battle against the Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch. And, yes, pre-orders are just about to open up. Get ready!

Today’s PlayStation broadcast was chock full of great announcements. So, let’s do like we always do and recap everything as it ran from the beginning!

That’s right, the legacy continues with the first new adventure in the series since Final Fantasy VII Remake! Though only a small portion of gameplay footage was revealed, it looks pretty exciting when it comes to boss battles. Not to mention that there are more than enough Chocobos to go around. Expect dramatic action, sweet boss battles and compelling character development when this bad boy arrives. And exclusively on PS5, no less. (Well, maybe PC.)

Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Next up, Insomniac Games offered a more detailed look at its next Spider-Man game, which will focus on Miles Morales’ journey in the suit this time around. The footage shows him returning to his loft, back into his regular clothes. It then meshes into real gameplay, with Morales and his friend walking in the streets. The creative director then talks about how the game takes place a year past the original, and then shows off some impressive cinematics with Spidey in action as two rogue factions prepare to tear into each other.
And, yes, there’s gameplay. And it looks rad, with Miles’ incredible capabilities on display as he stops a bridge from collapsing. It drops this holiday season.

Hogwarts Legacy
After being hinted at for several months, we finally got a look at what the future of Harry Potter video games hold. Developed by Avalanche (the same studio behind Disney Infinity), this game looks to be a real treat for fans, with real-time combat, magical visuals and, well, all that Potter goodness. It’s coming in 2021.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Next up, we got a closer look at the new Call of Duty in action. Black Ops Cold War could be the most visually stunning COD game out there, with single player and multiplayer intact. It drops this holiday season, so be prepared for some serious 80’s action! Plus there’s a multiplayer alpha coming to PS4 this weekend!

Village: Resident Evil VIII
Yes, the new Resident Evil is coming. And, boy, does Chris Redfield look like he’s pissed. The new trailer gives us a better idea of what lies within the storyline for this new game, and, boy, is it spooky AF. It’s coming in 2021.

Deathloop
A new trailer for Bethesda’s latest venture emerged, providing more details on story. And, yeah, the versus action looks pretty wild, especially with the time loop scenario. Don’t these guys get tired of killing each other?! (Guess not.) It’s due in the second quarter of 2021. And it’ll be exclusive on PS5 console-wise.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition
Yes, a souped-up edition of Devil May Cry 5 is coming to PS5, with more Vergil action featured in the trailer. Expected to have bigger graphic details, a faster frame rate and, yes, more demons to say, this should be the ultimate edition of one of this past year’s most ferocious action games. It’ll be available digitally at launch. (No word on physical release.)

Oddworld Inhabitants is going all out on its amazing new Soulstorm game, and today we got a closer look at it in action. It’s definitely on the, ahem, odd side, but should be good fun for fans of the series. Check it out in 2021.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach
A new Five Nights game for PS5? Yep. And though there wasn’t much to see, it definitely appears to be on the spooky side. Mind those jump scares.

Demon’s Souls Remake
Yes, this looks sadistic. Yes, this looks tough as hell. But we wouldn’t have it any other way, especially with Bluepoint Games (Shadow of the Colossus) at the helm. They should make this game just as ridiculously fun as ever. Just be prepared to die. A lot.

Fortnite
Of course Fortnite is coming to PS5. Because it’s a juggernaut with millions of players and why stop the party now? We got a brief glimpse of the game, which will be available when the PlayStation 5 launches on day one. So…you have something to play.

PlayStation Plus Collection
PlayStation Plus will apparently come with a number of games from the PS4 library that can be played on PS5, starting on day one. This includes the Uncharted games, God of War, Days Gone and more. It’s a nice perk for those that want an instant game library on the PS5, without having to worry about downloading things.

Last But Not Least… God of War sequel!
Indeed, there’s a God of War sequel coming to PlayStation 5, with the warning “Ragnarok is coming.” And it’s got a 2021 release date, so we should see gameplay from it very soon.
