Xbox Showcase: Seven Amazing Things We Learned, On Top of Halo Infinite

Today, Microsoft revealed an hour of new gameplay from titles coming to both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X. And the showcase didn’t disappoint, not only with the first look at gameplay from Halo Infinite, but also some surprises, including the return of a favorite series that has been in the world for some time. With that, let’s break down the highlights from the showcase, starting with the very obvious favorite.

Halo Is Back and Better Than Ever

Years after Halo 5: Guardians, Master Chief is ready for his return with the masterful Halo Infinite, which promises to make its Xbox Series X debut in stride. Featuring luscious 60 frames per second visuals, Infinite also has a huge world to explore, along with neat new gameplay perks, such as the grappling hook, which enables Chief to get around easier and even grab objects within the distance. He also has a new foe to deal with, who looks like he’s ready to lead the Banished into battle. There’s still no release date, and not even any kind of hint about a beta being in the works or something like that. However, based on what we’ve seen, Halo Infinite will bring the franchise into the next generation with flying colors. Holiday 2020 can’t get here soon enough.
We’ll have a more in-depth piece concentrating on this particular entry very soon.

Fable Is Finally Making Its Return
After the sudden – and heartbreaking – cancellation of Fable Legends (not to mention the closure of the legendary Lionhead Studios), we never thought we would see Fable make any kind of return. But then we heard whispers that the developers of the Forza Horizon series, Playground Games, was hard at work on a new chapter. Today, Microsoft made it official, with the game heading to Xbox Series X sometime in the future. Though the trailer didn’t provide any look at the new gameplay from the title, it looks to have the series’ sense of humor firmly in place, as a fairy gets eaten whole by a frog. Hey, a frog’s gotta eat, right?
Check out the trailer below and expect more news on Fable in the months ahead. Adventure returns!

Tetris Effect Is Getting Connected
Though some people joked about its involvement during the Xbox Games Showcase, there’s no question that Tetris Effect is a well-received game in the industry. So why not push it to the next level on Xbox Series X? That’s exactly what’s happening with Tetris Effect: Connected, which will make its debut on the platform in the months ahead.
The game features the stunning single player action that made it such a hit on PlayStation 4 and PC. But this time, it’ll have multiplayer, as four players will be able to team up for an interactive session. Only hints of this mode were revealed thus far, but it could make for a unique party experience. And hopefully we’ll see some kind of versus factor as well.
Look for more details on Connected later on this year.

State of Decay 3 Brings the Zombie Genre To the Next Level
Undead Labs has been known for making its State of Decay series into something special. But for the third chapter in the series – made official today during the Showcase – it promises to really bump things up. This time around, it appears that nature is against the surviving humans in the world, with everything from zombie wolves to deer trying to eat everyone. Though there wasn’t any gameplay, State of Decay 3 should be the most dramatic entry in the series to date. Hopefully we’ll get some co-op to go along with it. The third game should make its debut sometime in 2021. We’ll see what happens. In the meantime, be careful. The hunter could easily become the hunted.

Forza Motorsport Is Going Back To Basics On Xbox Series X
Though Forza Horizon 4 will get some enhancements for Xbox Series X, we know what fans want – an all-new chapter that really takes advantage of the hardware. And they’re getting it, as Turn 10 Studios is hard at work on the simply named Forza Motorsport. The game is still very early in development at this point, and doesn’t even have a release date at this point in time. However, the studio is taking full advantage of the hardware at hand, as this should be the most gorgeous looking entry in the series to date.
Enjoy the trailer below and prepare to get revved up.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.’s Sequel Finally Emerges
We’ve been waiting for what seems like forever for the next entry in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series; and we’re finally getting it with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, which will make its debut on Xbox Series X. The sequel looks very atmospheric, just like the original did before it; and it promises to be just as scary and intense as the first game, if not more so.
Details are scarce at the moment, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 promises to be a real hit when it eventually arrives on Xbox’s next hardware. We’ll have more details for you as they become available. In the meantime, hit the lights and enjoy the latest trailer.

Remedy Is Doing Something Special With the Crossfire X Campaign
While some folks may not think that CrossfireX will be anything amazing for the next-generation of games, one studio is assuring that there’s going to be something special about it – and that’s Remedy Games. The studio that made Alan Wake and Control are taking care of the campaign mode for the upcoming military shooter. And based on the cryptic details unleashed in the trailer below, this isn’t your usual stray into Call of Duty territory. The game will release sometime over the next few months, and should be a hit for those that have been looking to fulfill their first-person shooter fix with something new. Check it out!

Destiny 2 Is Going Next-Gen, and Xbox Game Pass Compatible
Bungie’s Destiny 2 will be getting a new expansion this November. And to help expand the game’s core audience, the company has teamed up with Microsoft to give it a huge boost on Xbox One. That’s because the series will officially make its debut on Xbox Series X this November, with enhanced visuals and gameplay that holds steady at 60 frames per second. Not only that, but it’ll also be far more accessible, as it’ll be added to the Xbox Game Pass program with all of its expansions intact. That should bring millions of new players into the fold.
