May Day Gaming Update

A new month means a new batch of games being released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The reasons why the pickings are slim my fellow gamers is that this is a transition year. At the end of the year Microsoft will be releasing the Microsoft Series X, the replacement for the Xbox One. While Sony will be releasing the PlayStation 5 to replace the PlayStation 4. On the other hand Nintendo has a leg up because they just released the Nintendo Switch. So, publishers will be releasing more games for that system as it becomes more and more popular. We will tell you which games are worth your time and which games to avoid. Gamers here in Canada will be offered a chance to win prizes and get opportunities to win other cool things. We will break through the noise and give you the goods on the games that are worth your time and money!

Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer will be released on May 12 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game is another rehash with a few improvements. But it’s Star Wars and it is worth a look. The game was released as a tie-in to the Phantom Menace when it was released back in 1999 mimicking the movies high-energy pod-racing segments which complimented the movies awesome light sabre battles.

I can’t get enough of Star Wars so I am going to pick up this one. I will do a review on it when it releases.

Minecraft Dungeon will be released on PC and Xbox One on May 26th. This game might excite Minecraft fans, but hold the phone this game is a spin-off, so it is not about gathering resources or crafting. Instead gamers will be able to play and explore randomly generated dungeons to solve puzzles. There are no classes, you can choose any of the gear that you want. Also, you can play the game with your friends in four-player co-op.

Another remake that’s resurfacing this month is Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will be released on the Switch on May 29th.

The series is a cult classic that had its most recent release on the Nintendo 3DS, and now the Switch is getting a chance to play the story. There are a few fresh experiences for you thanks to a new epilogue. The graphics and music have been upgraded but unless you’re a diehard RPG fan you might want to move along, there might not be anything to see here on May 29th.
