While Microsoft is clearly stacking up its Xbox Game Pass service to entice newcomers and keep current subscribers, there’s one game that won’t be available there at launch – Diablo IV.
With everything happening with the company’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, a lot of players have been asking if the forthcoming sequel would make its way to the service. But the company’s Diablo general manager, Rod Fergusson, took to Twitter to quell the rumors.
“It’s awesome seeing the excitement around the Diablo IV Beta, and our Wolf Pack puppy! We’ve been getting some questions about D4 on Game Pass and I
want to let you know we have no plans for that. See you in Sanctuary during the Beta Early Access weekend starting on March 17,” he explained.
The game is set to arrive on June 6th. While there are no plans to bring it to Game Pass at launch, there’s always the possibility that it could debut down the line, after the game’s first year of sales and what not. (And that’s if the Activision Blizzard acquisition goes through without a hitch.)
In the meantime, a closed beta starts off from March 17-19, and then an open beta will come in from March 24-26. So everyone can still check it out free of charge before its release.
