You may recall a Sony State of Play broadcast that took place a couple of weeks ago that highlighted new gameplay from Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, with a release date of May 26th. However…it looks like the team are going to need a little bit longer.
Per this report from Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has opted to delay the game past that date, now aiming for a second half 2023 release.
While the gameplay looked promising, the game reveal was met with heavy criticism from fans, who weren’t too happy with the whole “need to be online” aspect – even with single player. Jason Schreier, who worte the initial Bloomberg report, explained that the delay doesn’t have anything to do with the “Games as a Service” aspect. “For what it's worth, a delay like this is mainly for polish, not to overhaul the core gameplay that caused the backlash. Suicide Squad started off as a Game as a Service and will remain one short of a complete reboot, which would require a much longer delay,” he said.
It's unsure just how reaction to the game will be with its delay, but we’ll let you know more as soon as information becomes available.
