Just when we thought we’ve seen all the released and unreleased Sonic the Hedgehog games that Sega has to offer…we’ve located another!
SegaSonic Cosmo Fighters was recently uncovered, a long-lost 1993 arcade shooter featuring Sonic behind the wheel of a powered jet, shooting enemies (like Robotnik) out of the sky. The game was released in Japan back then, but never got a chance on these Western shores.
However, mega Sonic fan IAMAMAZING100 recently uncovered an arcade cabinet of SegaSonic, and noted that he will soon make the Japanese ROM available on MAME. The game was apparently part of Sega World Sydney’s line-up, before ending up in their hands.
In addition, IAMAMAZING100 also uploaded some brief footage of the game, which you can see below. The voice acting is a little…off, and the gameplay seems a bit basic, but, still, how cool is this?!
