The Game Awards 2022 have come and gone, and while there were some moments that left people scratching their heads, it was an overall momentous show filled with some fun announcements and gameplay reveals. But which ones fared the very best? Well, there was a lot to choose from, so they aren’t easy choices to come by. Still, we’ve come up with a list of the five definitive reveals from the show that blew our doors off the most.
So, without further ado, let’s look at some of the best!
Idris Elba Joins the Cyberpunk 2077 Party
Even with a somewhat lackluster launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has really grown into the special little game. And with Phantom Liberty DLC set to debut next year, it’ll turn a corner in terms of story. Along with bringing back Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, another familiar face will join the cast – Idris Elba!
The actor will portray Solomon Reed, an FIA agent for the New United States of America that plays a part in how everything rolls out. We’ll have to wait a few more months to see what comes of his debut, but, man, we’re happy to see him.

More Death Stranding? Yes Please
Surprise! Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions are back for another round of futuristic walking! But there’s some suspense afoot with Death Stranding 2, which is currently in the works for PlayStation 5.
The game will feature newcomer Elle Fanning joining the cast, alongside returning favorites Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux and Troy Baker. The story looks to be just as twisted as ever, and the visuals are really a knockout when it comes to PS5 quality. This one doesn’t have a release date yet, but we’re looking forward to seeing more of it.
Hades 2 Already?!
Supergiant Games’ Hades was a truly wonderful triumph when it came out a couple of years ago. In fact, it has become the company’s most successful title…so why not capitalize with a sequel? In Hades 2, a new heroine steps up as you make your way through a variety of levels, gathering weapons and other sweet goods as you try to clean house in the name of your fellow gods. This one appears to be much darker than the first, and the abilities should definitely be off the charts. There’s no release date yet, but it wouldn’t surprise us if it dropped sometime in 2023.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor Release Date and Gameplay
As promised, EA and Respawn Entertainment provided a more in-depth look at the next entry in the Star Wars Jedi series, and Survivor somehow looks better than ever. Massive world exploration awaits you here, along with awesome Jedi abilities, sweet lightsaber moves and a story that will keep you enthralled for more. Tack on the power of next-gen console technology and you’ve got an adventure that was once the learner, but is now the master. Check it out when it arrives on March 17, 2023!
He Is the Night, He Is Batman
The latest trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League arrived during The Game Awards; and while it didn’t have a huge amount of gameplay, it did have one neat little surprise. The anti-heroes come across their toughest character yet – the Dark Knight himself, Batman. But as a nice little nod to the passing of Kevin Conroy, the team at Rocksteady revealed that he will return one final time in this game to voice the character. Oh, and it will arrive on May 26, 2023.
Yes, finally!
BONUS: Horizon Forbidden West Is Getting DLC…On PS5
Guerrilla Games continues to build upon the massive world of Horizon Forbidden West in 2023 with the debut of a new DLC pack called Burning Shores, which sees Aloy taking flight over the world with the help of a winged metal pterodactyl. It’s too soon to tell where the story will go from here, but there is one factor to keep in mind – it will only continue on PlayStation 5. That’s right, PS4 owners will not get the DLC. So maybe you might want to consider an upgrade before the DLC’s release on April 19th.
BONUS 2: Who’s the Crime Boss Now?
We know Saints Row didn’t quite sit well with some players, though we liked it. Well, leave it to 505 Games and In-Game Studios to try their hand at a wacky world filled with criminals. In Crime Boss, you try to build from the ground up as you learn from a variety of characters in the 90s. These include heroes and villains alike, including an all-star cast from Michael Madsen to Danny Glover to Kim Basinger to Danny Trejo to the man himself, Michael Rooker. Oh, and did we mention Vanilla Ice and Chuck Norris are in this, too? Check out the trailer above and get ready for madness.
