Hello and welcome to the start of our helpful holiday buying guides for 2022! We’re just a couple of weeks away from Black Friday, and then onto the shopping season for Christmas, Hannukah and Boxing Day! So why not get started with a few recommendations to get your shopping off on the right foot.
We’ve got a few selections to go through here, so let’s look at the definitive driving games that you can purchase your loved ones this holiday season!
Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox/PC)
We’re still a few months away from the release of the next Forza Motorsport, so, for now, we
can heartily recommend this romp through Mexico. Forza Horizon 5 is an absolute thrill ride,
packed with twists and turns and all sorts of cool cars. On top of that, it looks absolutely
phenomenal on PC and Xbox Series S/X, and gives you a lot of connectivity so you can race with
a huge community. Oh, and did we mention the Hot Wheels expansion yet? Because it’s rad!
DiRT 5 (Xbox/PC/PlayStation)
Though it’s been out for well over a year now, DiRT 5 continues to be surprisingly fresh. That’s because it’s loaded with races galore, which you can take on by yourself or with friends in multiplayer. It also looks better than previous DiRT games, and has more rides than you’re likely to find in a used car lot. There’s also a bounty of unlockable challenges that will keep you geared up for hours on end.
GRiD Legends (Xbox/PC/PlayStation)
While we’re on the Codemasters beat, let’s give some love to the latest GRiD game. Legends feels much more accessible than previous games that came before it, and comes with some of the best visuals we’ve seen in the saga to date. It also plays quite well, and offers a lot of options for rookies and die-hard racers alike. This is definitely the stuff of Legends as far as we’re concerned.
Gran Turismo 7
One of the few racing games to come out this year, Gran Turismo 7 had no trouble winning fans over after the somewhat disappointing GT Sport. Part seven gives you a lot to do, with the kind of technical mastery you’ve come to expect from Polyphony Digital. It has a ton of beautiful tracks from around the globe, along with masterfully designed vehicles and enough lessons to put you back into school. Time to be a racing master!
Who’s ready to get down and dirty? THQ Nordic is, thanks to the release of Wreckfest. Think of it a demolition derby style racing game, one where you can slam into cars and try to be the last person standing to get to the finish line. It’s recently been released for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, opening up a bunch of new racing competition. And it does so with flair and finesse, while still kicking up plenty of mud!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
“Why in the world are you guys recommending a game that’s well over five years old?” Um, because of the new Battle Pass, obviously. For our final pick, this Switch favorite is easily one of the finest – and most accessible – racers out there. It has an array of rad drivers to choose from, along with anti-gravity options, split-screen support and networked play that is all golden. Plus the new Battle Pass opens up tracks from yesteryear, along with a few new favorites, that everyone will thoroughly enjoy.
We’ll be back with another Holiday Guide soon, so be sure to check back!
