While there’s a war waging between Sony and Microsoft over the future of Call of Duty games (despite the fact that the latter said it’s not going anywhere, even after their acquisition of Activision Blizzard), EA sees this as a chance for Battlefield to possibly take the spotlight.
Speaking with Stephen Totilo at a Goldman Sachs event, EA CEO Andrew Wilson noted that Call of Duty possibly going exclusive to Xbox could be a chance for their series to get the spotlight.
“In a world where there may be questions over the future of Call of Duty and what platforms that might be on or might not be on, being platform agnostic and completely cross-platform with Battlefield, I think is a tremendous opportunity,” Wilson noted.
That said, don’t get too excited. As we noted above, Microsoft has already stated, time and time again, that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation. It hasn’t stated that the series will go Xbox exclusive, and even if it does, it’ll be some time.
Plus, EA, you might want to focus on bettering your series, considering Battlefield 2042 didn’t quite perform up to snuff. Just saying.
