If there’s one thing that’s proven to be a success over the years, it’s that companies can make slimmed-down versions of consoles and still make a killing on the market. And apparently that appears to be true with the PlayStation 5.
A new report from Press Start notes that Sony is set to release a slimmer version of its best-selling console in Japan next month. The system will reportedly be around 200 grams lighter than its current model for the digital model, and 300 grams lighter for the disc model. That should make it a bit lighter, to say the least. It could also “slim” down in terms of its thick build.
To further solidify the story, a new tweet indicates that the model will arrive on September 15th, with some rather interesting looking specs. Check it out in the link above.
Sony hasn’t officially said anything about the system just yet. However, considering it’s raising prices on its hardware in overseas markets, it might be compensating for that with slimmer, more luxurious models. We’ll find out soon enough.
As for when they would hit the U.S. and Europe, your guess is as good as ours. But maybe they’ll come in time for the holiday season. We’ll find out soon!
