Opening Night Live is officially over, and really opened up this year’s event in a big way with over 30 hit game reveals, including new titles and updates on previously announced ones. But which ones really blew us away? Well, let’s take a closer look at five big highlights!
The Lords of the Fallen
We knew that Lords of the Fallen was in line for sequel treatment. But we had no idea that the developers would be taking the complete reboot route, as this trailer clearly shows. There’s a lot of epic action to endure, as well as a stunning new engine that will bring the world to harrowing life like never before. Also, here’s hoping that “Mother” makes it in the final soundtrack. MOTHO!
Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game
Remember the 1988 sci-fi classic Killer Klowns From Outer Space? Sure you do. And so does the studio that previously worked on Friday the 13 th: The Game, as they’re back with a new multiplayer experience that brings the clowns back to the party. Set to enter closed beta soon, this one looks to be a lot of fun. That said, we can’t wait to take out a few unsuspecting fools with cream pies.
Lies of P
Here we were thinking that there would be no way that someone could tie the legacy of Pinocchio into a Bloodborne-style experience. Well, we were wrong. Lies of P looks like a stunning endeavor, filled with exciting action and beautiful visuals that bring this interesting world to life. Just be warned – this isn’t Disney’s Pinocchio. It’s far, far, far more brutal. And awesome, dare we say.
Considering that a Dune sequel is already in the works, we figured it would be just a matter of time before a AAA game based on the series followed. And here we are, with Dune: Awakening bringing a survival MMO experience to the forefront. With astounding visuals, a well-themed world and lots of promising elements, Awakening looks to finally give the series the game love it deserves.
Where Winds Meet
Now here’s something that we weren’t expecting. This amazing indie adventure looks like a pure AAA title, and mixes all sorts of types of games together. We’re talking a little bit of Elden Ring, a bit of Assassin’s Creed, and some atmospheric touches straight out of inspired Ghost of Tsushima territory. Not to mention wonderfully themed characters and a world hellbent on chaos. Alas, we’re waiting till 2023 for Where Winds Meet.
BONUS: Brutal The Callisto Protocol Gameplay
We’ve seen this Dead Space-like action title before, but this new gameplay peek gives you an idea of just how brutal things get. Along with a few alien encounters, it has a ridiculous stage where you almost drown in an underground tunnel and get washed up in the current. Needless to say, our hero isn’t a big, ahem, fan of how it ends.
