As part of its showcase that aired right before the weekend, THQ Nordic revealed some high-end projects that are on the way. Among them is a reboot of the classic horror series Alone In the Dark, which will have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up sometime soon.
The game is a “reimagination” of the 90s favorite, featuring the characters, locations and themes from it in “a completely original story,” according to the company. Pieces Interactive will handle its development, while Mikael Hedberg, who wrote the script for the terrifying SOMA, is writing the game’s story.
This will mark the first time that the series got a new game since 2015, when Atari tried to revitalize it with the failed Alone In the Dark: Illumination. Hopefully, this new game will give it a greater lease on life, now that THQ Nordic holds the official rights to it.
There’s no word on a release date just yet, but the game should be featured during Gamescom 2022 in just a few short weeks. Hopefully we’ll learn more about it then. In the meantime, check out the sweet new trailer below!
