While Black Panther has been featured in Marvel games in the past, he hasn’t had his own full adventure, unlike what we’ve seen on the big-screen. But some new rumors suggest that will change soon enough.
Renowned industry leaker Jeff Grubb noted details on what could be EA’s first foray into Marvel since the days of Marvel Nemesis. The game will feature a different Black Panther than King T’Challa (considering Chadwick Boseman passed away a couple of years ago), and will be a single-player, open-world adventure.
On his recent GiantBomb podcast, Grubb noted that the game is in the works at an EA-licensed Seattle studio, with an ex-Monolith head running game production. It appears to be some kind of agreement between Marvel and EA, as the publisher has been inspired by the success of both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the hype behind its just-announced sequel, Survivor.
The game will put you in the shoes of a new Black Panther character, replacing T’Challa and learning the ropes of the hero.
That said, the game isn’t expected anytime soon, as it’s just begun “very early development,” according to Grubb. And, of course, EA hasn’t said a word, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement before we get excited. But, who knows, it just might come true. We hope so.
