Although the company didn’t host an “official” E3 stream this year, Ubisoft still had some plans up its sleeve when it came to Assassin’s Creed, with a special broadcast celebrating the franchise.
As part of the 15th anniversary showcase, the company has announced a new chapter for its best-selling Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as well as a new game mode that has “rogue-lite” inspirations.
The Forgotten Saga, which will be free for all players, serves as a “unique take on Assassin’s Creed gameplay,” with a short trailer presenting what’s in store for players. You can see that below.
In addition, this will serve as “the last episode of the story of Eivor,” bringing the tale of the Viking warrior to a close. There will also be extra tombs coming, along with seasonal content to tie in with the game.
The DLC is set to arrive later this year, though a specific date wasn’t given.
As part of the anniversary announcement, Ubisoft also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Origins, which recently got a next-gen update on PS5 and Xbox Series, will have a free trial period.
Players can check out the game on the house from June 16th through the 20th.
Finally, there’s word that we’ll finally get to see what the new Assassin’s Creed Infinity game is all about. But…not yet. The company noted that it will host a special event this September where it will reveal the “future of Assassin’s Creed.” We’ll have to see what this is when the time comes. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of time to kill.
