It’s May the Fourth! Happy Star Wars day everyone! We’re sure you’ve already got your movies and games lined up for the day, and you’re out to enjoy everything the series has to offer and more!
But…in case you need some suggestions, here are the top five best Star Wars video games of all time! (At least, in our eyes. Who knows, you just might like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter?)
Honorary Mention: Star Wars: The Arcade Game
Back in the early 80s, Atari created magic with its vector-based first-person space adventure Star Wars. The goal was simple – blast as many cannons and TIE Fighters as you can, while avoiding dangerous fireballs and destroying the Death Star. While simple in design compared to today’s games, there was no beating just how much fun this game was. And if you have the Arcade1up for this (or even the original arcade game), consider yourself lucky. That’s the best way to play.
5. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Man, Travellers Tales took an awful big risk on this one. But boy, did it pay off. The SkywalkerSaga is easily the most ambitious Lego game yet, but it’s also the most fun. Loaded with enhanced gameplay, tons of secrets, fun visuals, and all sorts of giggle-worthy moments, it’s a good time all around, especially if you bring a friend along for the ride. Oh, and did we mention it’s perfect for kids, too?!
4. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
It’s so weird how EA once said that single player games were dead, and, then, just months later, one of its own companies produced one of the best single player Star Wars adventures to date. Jedi: Fallen Order is filled with exciting, tense moments, as well as a great deal of character and heart. Not to mention it set the stage for a much bigger sequel, which, hopefully, we’ll learn about a little later this month. That gives you all the time you need to jump into this one and learn all about the awesome legacy of Cal Kestis. We love it.
3. Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II
Easily one of the biggest gems of the Nintendo GameCube launch, Rogue Leader II is as perfect as sequels get. Loaded with great visuals, fun gameplay, and a ton of flying missions to complete, the sequel is also complemented by some of the best flying action you’ll come across in a game such as this. Star Wars: Squadrons carries its spirit on nicely, but nothing beats the original. Now if we can just get that Nintendo Switch re-release already…
2. Star Wars: Battlefront II (the Xbox original)
Don’t get us wrong, EA’s modern sequel is a lot of fun. However, for our money, nothing beat the chaotic multiplayer nature of the original Xbox game. It’s still a good time, even if you bet on the Sith to win it all. Tons of great missions, lots of options (including galactic battles!), and a slew of familiar faces make this all worthwhile. Ah, Pandemic Studios, we totally miss you.
1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Even though it’s getting a big-budget remake for PlayStation 5 somewhere down the road, for
our money, we still love BioWare’s original KOTOR. And who wouldn’t? It’s incredibly laden with story, as well as some of the best role-playing action we’ve seen the company produce. Not to mention a terrific epic twist (we won’t spoil it here) and graphics that, surprisingly enough, still look great on Xbox Series X. You’d be a fool to pass up an epic adventure like this…so don’t.
