Even though Crystal Dynamics is quite busy with new content for its Marvel’s Avengers adventure, that doesn’t mean it’s not doing anything with Lara Croft.
This week, the company announced that the 13th chapter in the ongoing Tomb Raider franchise is officially in development. During a special broadcast, the company noted that the game “just started development” and will utilize Epic Games’ just-released Unreal Engine 5 technology.
That should make the game more state-of-the-art than ever before.
That said, details about the game’s story haven’t been revealed just yet. Crystal Dynamics hasn’t let on whether it will follow the previous trilogy of games we’ve gotten, or take a direction more akin to the classic games. We’ll find out, but it’s going to take some time. However, Crystal Dynamics did hint at what would be coming with the tech involved with the game. “Our goal is to push the envelope of fidelity and to deliver the high quality cinematic, action-adventure experience that fans deserve from both Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise.”
We’ll see what the future holds, but here’s hoping for a return of the old-school Lara!
