2022 is barely getting started here, and the PC market already has a game of the year contender in the mix – Sony’s God of War.
Initially released for the PlayStation 4 in 2018 and later revised to look even better on the PlayStation 5 two years later, God of War has been considered one of the greatest action games of this past generation, with its real-time structure, mind-boggling visuals and amazing combat.
It’s truly capped off Kratos’ legacy, which will no doubt continue with this year’s PS5/PS4 release God of War: Ragnarok.
Last year, Sony confirmed the PC port of the game, as part of its continuing effort to bring some of its older release to the market for additional revenue. And it’s gotten all sorts of anticipation, leading into its release tomorrow, January 14th.
Early reviews have started making the rounds, with many saying that it’s not only an impressive port, but could very well lead the way for future Sony ports as far as quality is concerned. (It
currently holds a 93 rating on Metacritic, earning its ranking of “must play”.) The reviews have been glowing, stating that it somehow looks even better on PC than it does on PS5, considering the many settings involved with PC’s.
And now, early sales numbers indicate that the game will be a colossal hit yet again. While exact numbers aren’t available, it is holding steadily in the top five; and could very well take the top spot tomorrow once it finally releases.
This is great news for Sony across the board. It reintroduces fans to a game in its best version possible, while at the same time building up anticipation for Ragnarok before its arrival later this year. 2022 could easily be the year of Kratos.
