Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a number of leaks that indicate WB Games is hard at work on its own Super Smash Bros.-esque brawlathon, featuring a number of characters from its series and movies. Now, it’s finally official – we’re going into the MultiVersus! WB confirmed the game’s existence today, which is currently in development over at Player First Games. Set for release in 2022 on Xbox and PlayStation consoles (as well as PC), the game will be free-to-play, and will also offer dedicated servers and rollback netcode, making its fighting action unprecedented.
The game features a number of characters, including the following:
- Shaggy (Scooby-Doo)
- Wonder Woman
- Harley Quinn
- Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)
- Steven Universe
- Garnet (Steven Universe)
- Tom & Jerry
- Finn (Adventure Time)
- Jake (Adventure Time)
- Bugs Bunny
Several new characters, along with licensed favorites, will debut in the series over time as well, like Gandalf from Lord of the Rings and Rick from Rick & Morty. And they’re voiced by their original actors, with Matthew Lillard voicing Shaggy, Maisie Williams voicing Stark, Kevin Conroy voicing Batman and several others.
What’s neat about MultiVersus is its gameplay gimmicks, as you’ll be able to use techniques for fellow members of your team over the course of each fight, as featured in the trailer below.
Check it out and get ready for fun brawling action in 2022!
