Leave it to the Dragon Ball franchise to say something along the lines of “And now for something completely different.”
Straying away from its fighting game model and role-playing Kakarot universe, the popular anime series will now tackle online symmetrical multiplayer survival with The Breakers, the latest game in the series.
Due in early 2022, the game will pit players in a seven versus one sort of match, which you can get a hint of in the trailer below. One player will act as The Raider, chasing after the seven
others, who will have to use tactics in order to avoid succumbing to them. It sounds like Dead By Daylight adapted to Dragon Ball rules, which is sure to get some people excited. Potential Raiders include Cell, Buu or Frieza, and it sounds like more could be added via DLC down the road.
Meanwhile, the survivors must use stealth to their advantage, while also picking up weapons and power-ups to fend off the Raider temporarily. If they can “survive” the match long enough and make it to the Super Time Machine, they’ll win the match. But that’s a pretty big “if,” considering the power of the Raiders.
The game will arrive in 2022 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as Nintendo Switch and PC. And no, it won’t have Rush’s “The Breakers” song in it, as far as we can tell. Can’t win ‘em all.
No turkeys here – we’re giving away a PlayStation 5!
