If you were hoping to get a Steam Deck in time for the holidays, Valve just dropped a bit of coal in your stocking.
In an official post on the Steam page today, the company confirmed that it has pushed back the release date of the 512GB model handheld system from December 2021 to February 2022. The reason? Lack of components.
“Due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturer facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates,” the company noted. “(February 2022) will be the new start date of the reservation queue – all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly.”
It concluded, “We’re sorry we won’t be able to make our original ship date. We’ll continue working to improve reservation dates based on the new timeline, and will keep folks updated as we go.”
On the bright side, 2022 looks like a hell of a year for gaming, doesn’t it?
No turkeys here – we’re giving away a PlayStation 5!
