As we await the arrival of Call of Duty: Vanguard next month, we’re happy to report that PlayStation 5 owners will once again get a little something extra, thanks to a deal between Sony and Activision.
Per the latest trailer for the game below (which highlights the story), it’s noted that PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners will once again get “exclusive benefits” from the game. It’s hard to tell what this will be just yet, as Activision hasn’t announced it. However, it’s more than likely going to be an exclusive mode, along with bonus XP and additional loadout slots, as we saw in previous releases. That means they’d stay on PlayStation consoles for at least a year’s time, debuting on PC and Xbox consoles sometime in November 2022.
We’ll see what this content is as the game gets closer to its November 5th release.
Meanwhile, Sledgehammer Games’ Sam Maggs recently spoke during a New York Comic Con panel this past weekend about the game’s story, and how he hopes it’ll expand with further follow-ups in the years ahead. He noted, “We came into this process saying, ‘how do we make the iconic CoD characters?’ because you don’t really have that in Call of Duty right now. You know when you think about a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of CoD there’s not really those standout characters. And so we came into this being like, ‘who could be our flagship CoD characters?’ because we want to make Vanguard 2 and Vanguard 3, because we have two more stories that we really want to tell with these characters. So, we are hoping that if people love them as much as we do, that we get to continue to tell the story of these people and make them sort of like figureheads for this era of CoD basically.”
Based on the pre-sales for Vanguard, the game should have no problem being a success. But time will tell.
The game will arrive for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, as well as PC, next month.
