All bets were off when it came to trying to figure out who the final downloadable fighter would be for Nintendo’s brawling opus Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. And now, we have our answer.
Sadly, not Waluigi.
In an announcement held during a special broadcast yesterday, Nintendo revealed that Sora from Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series will serve as the final entry in the long-running fighting game. He’ll make his debut on October 18th, along with various songs from the Kingdom Hearts saga, as well as some new Mii fighter costumes, including the Doomguy costume from Doom Eternal.
The trailer, which is below, shows off what Sora would look like in the universe, along with some hints of his move set.
As part of this announcement, Square Enix also confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts saga will finally make its debut on the Nintendo Switch. All three original games in the series will eventually be released for it, albeit in “cloud” form, which means an online connection will be needed. The games will likely arrive sometime in 2022.
Will you be picking up Sora and adding him to the fight? Let us know.
