Even though it’s still a ways away from release (we’re talking sometime in 2023, perhaps), Insomniac Games has a lot in store for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The game, revealed last month, will finally bring Venom into the fold. But based on some new information, it’ll also have a much darker tone than the original.
During the latest episode of the This Week In Marvel podcast, the hosts had a chance to chat with Vice President of Creative at Marvel Games, Bill Rosemann, about what’s in store. And
though he wouldn’t discuss the plot, he spilled the beans on the game’s tone.
“If the first Spider-Man was Star Wars, Spider-Man 2 is kind of our Empire. It gets a little darker.”
How dark? Again, there’s no word on what to expect from the story. But with Venom – voiced by horror legend Toby Todd – on board, there’s likely going to be some Symbiote stuff involved.
Maybe Carnage might even show up at some point…? (That’s speculation.)
We’ll have to wait a bit to find out. Insomniac is hard at work on developing Spider-Man 2, as well as its just-announced Wolverine game, which doesn’t have a release date. Both are coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5.
