It might just be about time for Sweet Tooth and company to mount a comeback in the world of video games.
Hot on the heels of the news that a TV series is in the works with Marvel star Anthony Mackie, a new rumor from VideoGamesChronicle suggests that a new Twisted Metal game is in the works for PlayStation 5. And it’s apparently in the works over at Lucid Games, the same studio that brought us Destruction All-Stars, as well as classics like Geometry Wars 3 and, in a previous life, Blur.
The series hasn’t seen a new release since Twisted Metal came out years ago for the PlayStation 3, though a re-release for Twisted Metal Black did pop up on PS4, much to the enjoyment of fans everywhere. So a return could very well hit the spot. And it’s likely to could debut in 2023 alongside the TV series, though Sony hasn’t disclosed any plans yet.
None of this is official, but Lucid would be a great fit, considering how well it did on All-Stars and previous racing endeavors. Now the real question is if the series’ former director, David Jaffe, will get involved somehow. We hope so.
