Even though all eyes are on Call of Duty: Vanguard for its November debut, there’s some talk going around regarding next year’s game in the series, as it’s likely to be a sequel to the 2019 release Modern Warfare.
The news comes from renowned leaker Tom Henderson, who noted on Twitter that the upcoming sequel will continue the story from the original game. It’s noted that it will likely focus on U.S. forces battling with Colombian drug cartels, in the hopes of keeping control of things.
VGC added to these rumors, noting the game will have a campaign “involving U.S. special forces fighting a covert war” against said cartels.
Obviously Activision hasn’t said a word, between the legal hubbub the company is currently facing and, again, focusing on Vanguard. But we’ll see what next year brings.
In the meantime, the original Modern Warfare is available now for PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as PC.
