One of last week’s biggest surprises during the PlayStation Showcase event was the newest project from Insomniac Games. Well, one of the company’s newest projects.
Along with a sequel to Spider-Man, it was confirmed that the company is working on another Marvel property – Wolverine. And while it’s still a ways off, it wasted no time confirming that the game will take a mature-rated path.
When asked about what kind of approach the game would take, Brian Horton, who served as creative director for Spider-Man: Miles Morales and will also be part of the Wolverine team, answered back on Twitter, “Full size, mature tone.” That means it’s not a spin-off game, but its own beast. And it’ll be dark and bloody.
That means the game could take an approach similar to the classic movie tie-in game X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a title that put the adamantium-clawed hero in a similar role to Kratos from the God of War games, gutting enemies up like a storm while also facing off in epic boss battles.
It’s unknown if the game will be completely rated mature, but it sounds like Insomniac won’t shy away from Wolverine’s gutsy, “let’s go bub!” style.
Check out the trailer again below. It’s a ways away, probably not arriving until at least sometime in 2023, but we’re glad it’s coming!
