We know that a big PlayStation Showcase is set to take place within a matter of days, with Sony finally showcasing some titles on the horizon for the system. But there’s a rumor making the rounds that a franchise could be returning with a whole new adventure.
Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker recently took to Twitter to report on what could be one of Sony’s bigger surprises for the show – the return of the Infamous franchise. “Take this one with a grain of salt,” he stated. “It’s one of the things I couldn’t get confirmed. But because I like the series I’m hoping it’s true. But there’s a chance we could see Infamous make a return at Sony’s showcase. Fingers crossed.”
The series was last seen in 2014 with the release of both Infamous: Second Son and its spin-off Infamous: First Light, both of which were huge hits with its players. Before then, the Infamous games got a good run on PlayStation 3, focusing on a different hero, the electrically charged Cole McGrath.
There’s always the possibility that Infamous is set to make its return. But there’s a question lingering in the midst of all this – if Sucker Punch Productions is behind it. The developer worked on the previous Infamous games and knocked them out of the park; but lately, it’s been taking in the success of its best-selling action game Ghost of Tsushima, which recently saw a
Director’s Cut come out last month. Now that it’s finished, there is a possibility that the team has begun work on a new Infamous. But, as Baker noted, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt.
