Geoff Keighley wasted no time kicking off Opening Night Live yesterday, with the debut of a new trailer for a not-so-typical entry in the Saints Row franchise. In fact, this is a reboot from the ground up.
The trailer reintroduced the franchise on a whole new level, focusing on a younger gang trying to make their mark against a series of gunrunners, using stylish weapons and vehicles to get their point across.
Volition, the developers behind the game, introduced Saints Row yesterday, their first entry in the series since Agents of Mayhem came out four years ago. The team considers this an ambitious return to a criminal lifestyle, like the original game; but is far removed from being just a typical Grand Theft Auto style game.
Players will take control of a character simply known as The Boss, working alongside a getaway driver, a lunatic and a brainy genius. Together, they’ll take on a variety of criminal organizations in Santo Ileso, hoping to gain ground as they attempt to take over.
As before, the game will come with a cool customization angle, so you can create your ultimate Saint as you add a personal touch to the chaos. And the game will have cross-gen and cross-play support online, so players can join up and enjoy having the crime of their life.
Saints Row releases on February 25 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC. Will you be picking this up?
