Some PlayStation 5 owners have been worried about the state of big exclusives for the system, particularly with rumors that the long-awaited Horizon Forbidden West may be delayed into sometime in 2022. But that’s okay, as there are still a number of games coming to the platform that fans won’t want to miss. They’ll just be coming from third parties is all.
Let’s take a look at some of the biggest titles that are yet to come on the system in the months ahead. Ready your controllers!
Grand Theft Auto V
So why in the world would we talk about being excited about a game that initially released on PlayStation 3 back in 2013? Well, number one, this will be the definitive version of GTA V, with enhancements that push it to the next level. And for another, Grand Theft Auto Online will be free for everyone to play on PS Plus, so they can jump in and enjoy one of the biggest multiplayer experiences out there. Oh, and did we mention it’s the best-selling game of all time? Be ready for it to sell even more copies.
Dying Light 2
At long last, Techland’s long-awaited sequel to its first-person action/horror game will finally arrive this December. And it will be worth the wait, as you guide a new character into the streets, taking on all sorts of adversaries alive and dead. For good measure, you’ll be able to utilize all new powers, form alliances with unlikely friends and foes, and try to save the city before it truly plunges into darkness. Or not, the choice is yours. Either way, this Light is about to shine a whole lot brighter.
Guardians Of The Galaxy
It’s nice to see Square Enix and Marvel continue to flourish their partnership, especially with a new game that focuses more on a single player experience. Guardians of the Galaxy carries the same energy as its big-screen brethren, but does so in an all-new direction as you partner up with your team and take on all sorts of space adversaries. The game looks like a lot of fun, and should also feature some amazing graphics that take advantage of the PS5 hardware. So crank that “Hooked On a Feeling” and have a ball!
Far Cry 6
Let the Revolution commence! In Far Cry 6, you portray a rebel that’s set to leave a movement against a tyrannical leader. Well, not just any tyrannical leader, but one played with great gusto by Giancarlo Esposito. You’ll need every handmade weapon in your arsenal, along with the assistance of alligators, roller puppies and, oh yeah, human allies. The revolution will be televised, and will look better than ever on the PS5. Viva la war games!
Even though Bethesda is Xbox property now, there is one piece of goodness being reserved exclusively for PS5 owners – and that’s Deathloop. In this fun first-person shooter from the creators of Dishonored, players find themselves in an endless loop, trying to survive a dangerous adversary while taking out selected targets. It’s up to them to figure things out while trying to stay in one piece. The sheer innovation behind the gameplay is intriguing enough, but the trippy atmosphere and unpredictable targets should make this loop well worth experiencing.
Last but not least, EA’s first-person shooter franchise makes its return later this year, packing as much multiplayer excitement as next-gen can handle. On the PlayStation 5, Battlefield should have no trouble running like a dream, even as you’re plunged into the stuff of nightmares. You’ll have to contend with the series’ largest player count to date while also taking on unpredictable weather conditions and changing goals. Think you can keep up? We’ll find out in just a few short months.
Speaking of PlayStation 5, we’re giving one away! Here’s how you can win one.
