Saber Interactive has made quite the name for itself over the past few years with a number of notable game releases. Among them is World War Z, a zombie shooter that’s actually fared much better than most licensed fare before it. Now, that world is set to expand this September — and better than ever before.
World War Z: Aftermath is set to debut on September 21st. With it, fans will still get the core experience they’ve come to expect from the co-op supported shooter. But there will also be some new features.
First off, the game will feature a pair of new maps in which to lay waste to zombie hordes.
These include the Vatican City and Russia’s Kamchatka area, both of which pose a number of new challenges.
In addition, the game will also introduce new characters into the fray, though they have yet to be revealed. The melee system will also undergo some helpful changes, and a new first-person mode will provide a much different perspective on the action. Oh, and did we mention the new zombie types? You’re going to have your hands full.
And for those that own a PlayStation 5, you’ll see the best enhancements yet. The game will run in beautiful 4K at 60 frames per second on your platform. More upgrades will be introduced with a free upgrade for the console, set to arrive sometime next year. It will also come with a Horde XL mode that will introduce even more zombies to kill. Yoinks.
The upgrade will cost $19.99 for current players, or you can buy the full package for $39.99 if you don’t own it yet. Either way, lock and load. You’ve got a fight on your hands.
