The bad news – Battlefield 2042 won’t have a single player campaign when it drops this fall. The good news – it will have some kind of backstory to tie in the thrilling multiplayer action, and next week will give us an idea of what’s in store.
EA has confirmed that it will premiere a new short film that ties in with the game on August 12th. Titled Exodus, it’ll explain why soldiers are fighting against one another in the face of a global crisis surrounding the current climate, where literally anything will happen.
The main focus of the story will be on a journalist by the name of Kayvan Bechir, though details of their involvement haven’t been revealed just yet. More than likely, they’ll follow these soldiers into battle just as everything begins to unfold.
The video will premiere on the Battlefield social channels on the 12th starting at 8 AM PDT. Fans won’t want to miss it, and we’ll repost it here once it’s live. You can see a teaser in the tweet below.
The standalone short film Exodus premieres August 12, 8am PDT / 5pm CEST.
