Rumors began circulating as soon as earlier this summer that Sony would be bringing back its PlayStation Experience event, which hasn’t taken place in quite a few years. And now, according to a new one, the event could be happening…next month?
This comes from known leaker Roberto Serrano, who stated on Twitter that the next Experience will take place in August, likely in the middle of the month before Gamescom does its digital showcase.
In a later tweet, Serrano noted that the event will take place on August 12 at 5PM EDT on Sony’s YouTube and Twitch channels. In it, fans can reportedly expect a first look at the new God of War game, Ragnarok, along with more information on Horizon: Forbidden West and “the next generation of PlayStation VR,” according to Serrano.
Now, don’t get too excited just yet. This could be bogus for a couple of reasons.
First off, Sony usually trumpets its first-party specials pretty often, though it has been known in the past to announce State of Play broadcasts out of the blue.
And secondly, the PlayStation Experience events usually happen later in the year, around December. That’s not to say that a change isn’t likely, but, alongside the Game Awards show, this is generally a good time for game announcements.
We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks. But, honestly, we’d be down to see what the new God of War looks like. We’re itching to see it already.
