We’re just days away from the release of the latest adventure of Ratchet and Clank, Rift Apart, and it promises to be an absolutely stellar entry in the series. Especially when you consider the day one patch that will go with it.
Insomniac Games recently revealed details on the patch, which will be available for all players starting on June 12th. With the patch, they’ll have the option of turning down the resolution in favor of increasing the game’s performance to 60 frames per second. Not only that, but it’ll be able to run at this wondrous pace while also utilizing ray tracing. You may recall that Insomniac also provided the same option for Spider-Man: Miles Morales when it came out last year. The company debuted first footage of this feature in the Twitter clip below, which provides a
look at how characters get around in the game. And yes, it’s spectacular.

So how did Insomniac do this? Well, the company explained in a tweet that it’s "a dynamic base resolution that then goes through our temporal injection process to achieve a 4K image.” The process is pretty seamless, as you can see.
You can see all of this go down when the game arrives later this week, exclusively for the PlayStation 5!
