As previously promised, Guerrilla Games, alongside Sony, released new gameplay footage for its upcoming sequel Horizon: Forbidden West – and it did not disappoint.
Over the course of the 14-minute footage, we once again get to see Aloy in action, this time as she tackles a dangerous new environment – and large, terrifying technical beasts, alongside renegade humans that have found a way to harness their powers.
The gameplay footage, featured below, runs through all sorts of crazy stuff, including Aloy’s battle with a large robotic mammoth that has no qualms about trying to stomp her flat. Guerrilla Games emphasized on how well the combat comes together for her character the second time around.
“Aloy’s trusty Spear is good for close combat and enables a new set of combos,” the developer noted. “Bows with specialized ammo types strip armor off machines to expose their weak spots. Adhesive grenades can be fired from slingshots, temporarily stalling foes. Plus many more, and all of them can be upgraded at a workbench.”
What’s more, with the help of a diving mask, Aloy can now spend time underwater without the fear of drowning, and her Focus is opening up in a big way.
“Not to mention big upgrades to her Focus, which now shows areas that allow free-climbing and gives her the ability to override more machines for mounts or combat,” they explained. That said, the game still doesn’t have a release date. But Guerrilla noted that fans should be patient, as information is on the way. “We don’t have an exact release date yet, but development is on track and we’ll have an update for you very soon.”
