Today marks a huge turning point for the Resident Evil saga with the debut of Village, the first game in the series optimized for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. It’s earned rave reviews thus far, thanks to its quirky characters, genuine scares and intense action. And we know you guys can’t wait to jump in alongside us.
That said, you may want to take a few tips under advisement if you’re going to survive your time within the game. Otherwise, you’re likely to succumb to vampire pleasures – or something much worse.
So heed these well, and proceed with caution. This is Resident Evil, after all.
You Don’t Always Need To Fight
When you face off against adversaries, you may find that some of them are too powerful for their own good. If that’s the case, it never hurts to run away and live to fight another day. It may look cowardly, but there’s some logic to this, especially against tougher foes that aren’t going down so easily. Simply look for the best exit route available and run like heck. You’ll save yourself some bullets, and when another fight comes along, you’ll be more than ready.
Don’t Let Your Guard Down
Something we’ve learned in Resident Evil Village is that it’s not always smart to take everything on the offensive. Enemies can be tough in this game, and if you’re not able to run away as we’ve previously suggested, you’ll need to do the next best thing in a fight and toughen up.
That means using your guard, in which you’ll deflect enemy attacks. And with a successful block, you can actually kick an opponent away, giving yourself a second of breathing room before you figure out your best move. Don’t forget to upgrade this technique either, with a little help from the Duke. The tougher you get, the more you’re likely to survive.
Pay The Duke A Visit
When you first begin in Village, you’ll find that your inventory isn’t as expansive as you’d like it to be. But this can be easily remedied by paying a visit to the Duke’s shop, which is fairly easy to find. They’ll set you up with the ability to expand your inventory for around 10,000 Lei. Once you do that, you’ll be able to store a lot more stuff – though it never hurts to drop off unnecessary items to them to make room for more, such as food. Also, watch out for weapon recipes. They can go a long way in this game as you put together better firearms.
Exploration Is Key
Resident Evil Village isn’t a game to be taken lightly. In fact, the more exploration you partake in, the more likely you are to find crucial items. This includes helpful supplies and health items that can keep you from crumbling in the face of an enemy. And you’ll be able to see if you’ve completely explored an area by taking a peek at the map. Once you finish searching in an area successfully, it’ll turn blue. Otherwise, if there are still stones to unturn, it’ll stay uncolored. And the area you’re currently in will be red, so you’ll see every nook and cranny you need to look around. Happy hunting!
Don’t Forget Your Knife!
Finally, if you really want to make the smart move when it comes to conserving your ammo, remember your knife. You may recall using one in Resident Evil 4 to solid effect, and it continues to serve a purpose in Village. You can use your knife to do damage to some enemies, but mostly it comes in handy for breaking items marked in yellow. These harbor items that you can add to your inventory, and sometimes keys that can get you into locked chests or through doors. Remember, look around. And slash away!
Good luck! Resident Evil Village is available today!
