Though BlizzCon is a little bit different this year with an online only presentation, the publisher didn’t leave any disappointment during its opening ceremony. In fact, there were a few great treats to go around, including the return of a 20-year old favorite remastered, as well as the return of other classic favorites – and, of course, a glimpse at a new character in Diablo IV.
Let’s go over each of the announcements that made the cut today!
Diablo II Is Resurrected
The rumors are true! Diablo II is returning as a Resurrected title, with the developers at Vicarious Visions (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastered) at the helm. Based on the trailer, which you can watch below, there’s some beautiful visuals to look forward to, along with the classic gameplay that we’ve come to expect. This title is set to hit all platforms – PC and consoles alike – this year, so make some room on your schedule to revisit it!
The Rogue Joins Diablo IV!
Though there’s still no release date on the long-awaited fourth chapter in the Diablo series, we at the very least have an idea of which new character will join the fray – the Rogue! The fighter has a whole new envisionment for this game, able to move around very quickly as he takes out adversaries. You can take a look at him in action in the trailer below!
A Closer Look At Overwatch 2
It may not be coming this year, but Overwatch 2 got a nice presentation anyway, with a behind- the-scenes video that showcases some new maps in Rome and New York City, along with the awesome skill trees that will be in the game and a new set of Null Sector foes. We can’t wait to give this one a shot sometime in 2022.
Hearthstone Updates, Anyone?
Blizzard had some great new updates to announce for Hearthstone on PC and mobile, including a new Classic mode to challenge players like in the good ol’ days. For that matter, it will also head into the future with an awesome new Forged in the Barrens expansion, along with a special Blizzard 30-Year Anniversary card back. Check out the video below!
Burning Crusade Joins World Of Warcraft Classic
Though a trailer isn’t available for it, World of Warcraft Classic is getting some love with the returning Burning Crusade expansion. Take on its classic features with some awesome fighters (Blood Elf or Draenei), and then pay a visit to Outland to rediscover all the glorious content you experienced before. Look for it in 2021!
The 16-Bit Legends Return!
Finally, in a bit of a shocking move, Blizzard has re-released three of its 16-bit favorites for a new generation to enjoy! The Lost Vikings, Rock ‘n Roll Racing and Blackthorne are included, offering hours of racing action, comedic strategy and shoot-em-up excitement for everyone to enjoy. And the Blizzard Arcade Collection is out now for just $19.99, on PC, Xbox One/Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4/5 and Nintendo Switch. Indulge!
