Nintendo has officially confirmed that a Nintendo Direct will air later today, starting at 5 PM EDT. We’ve already included the window below in which you can watch it, but the Internet is abuzz trying to figure out what the company will have in store. Keep in mind it’s been a good while since we’ve seen one of these, and there will be fifty minutes of goodness waiting for us here.
With that in mind, we’ve got a few ideas of what might be in store, so hold on tight as we present our predictions below!
A New Smash Bros. Competitor
There’s already news that we’ll see something Super Smash Bros. Ultimate related tomorrow.
And while some believe that a major new mode could be introduced, it wouldn’t be a complete shock if we saw some kind of tease about who’s coming next to the franchise. Sakurai and his team already made waves when they confirmed the mighty Sephiroth for the game a little while back, who has become quite an addition. So who’s next? Crash Bandicoot?
His latest game, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time!, is due on the Switch next month. Maybe there will be a one-two punch featuring Crash and Spyro. Who knows? Or maybe it’ll be a complete surprise!
Whatever the case, tune in tomorrow, Smash fans. This should be good.
Metroid Prime Trilogy, Finally?
Considering the popularity of Wii and Wii U ports on the Switch, it wouldn’t hurt to add one more to the pile – especially from the world of Metroid! Metroid Prime Trilogy has been rumored for the longest time now, and considering we don’t have anything to play until Metroid Prime 4 eventually comes out, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to get a solid port of the Wii classic. Give it to ussssss!
Persona 5, At Last?
With Persona 5 Strikers just days away from release, the buzz for Atlus’ insane series is at an all- time high. But do you know what would absolutely push it into overdrive? That’s right, the original Persona 5. It’s been rumored for ages on the Nintendo Switch, and setting it up for some kind of release over the spring or summer would be just the ticket for fans to continue the legacy of Joker and company. And, hey, they could easily add Royal content as well. It needs to happen, and it just might.
Another Breath Of The Wild 2 Teaser?
It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly been two years since Nintendo first teased a follow-up to its best-selling The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Now, that’s not to say it’ll arrive this year, as that’s not very likely. However, Nintendo Direct would be an excellent place to tease a little more footage from the sequel, and maybe give us an idea of what’s in store. Fingers crossed on this one.
A Long-Lost Favorite Returns?
Again, Nintendo loves reviving classic favorites for a new generation to enjoy. So there are possibilities galore when it comes to bringing something back from the dead. Fans have been asking like mad for F-Zero to make a comeback, and the Switch seems like the ideal platform for it to rev up its engine on. For that matter, we wouldn’t mind a port of StarFox Zero with new control types and improvements over the flawed Wii U version. And, hey, there’s always room for a Punch-Out!! return. And why not bring back Mike Tyson while we’re at it?!
What do you hope to see from the Nintendo Direct? Let us know!
Prefer a PlayStation 5 instead? We’re still giving one away!
