Considering how big Epic Games has become over the last few years with its multi-million making Battle Royale hit Fortnite, there’s always room for it to grow even bigger. And now it’s gone and purchased the space to make that happen.
The company recently made an agreement to purchase the Cary Towne Center, located in Cary, North Carolina. The dying shopping mall will now serve as the new location for Epic Games’ headquarters, moving just a little ways from where it is now.
There will be lots of room for the company on the grounds – about 980,000 square feet worth. In there, it should have no trouble building expansions for Fortnite or whatever else it has
But… the move will take a while. While it’s sure to help the city of Cary flourish with fans of the game (and residents that take in a casual game or two), it won’t be ready for relocation until sometime in 2024. That gives Epic Games lots of time to figure out what it wants to do with the space. Perhaps a recreational park where fans can play Fortnite paintball? A movie theater that shows Fortnite events? How about a classic Unreal Tournament gaming center while we’re at it? The sky’s the limit.
Granted, this won’t change the company’s other locations around the world, in which it has 50 offices worldwide. But this will no doubt be the big HQ where everyone comes to visit.
Who knows, maybe other companies will consider buying mall space to call their office home as well. Guess we’ll see.
Fortnite is available now for a majority of gaming platforms.
