It feels like it’s been forever since Doom Eternal’s announcement for Nintendo Switch, with Panic Button once again handling the translation of id’s popular sequel. There were fears at one point that the port was cancelled, with some wondering if Nintendo’s system could handle the game. But it appears that it can, because we finally have a release date.
Confirmed in a trailer that premiered this morning (which you can see below), Doom Eternal will finally debut on Nintendo Switch as a downloadable title starting on December 8. It’s set to go for $59.99, with its DLC chapters set to arrive “at a later date,” according to the publisher.
“Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power in Doom Eternal with the next leap in first-person combat powered by idTech 7,” the company noted in a press statement. “Armed with a shoulder-mounted flamethrower, wrist-mounted blade, upgraded guns, new abilities and more, you’re the greatest demon slayer in existence.”
An exclusive feature for the Nintendo Switch version is also coming with motion gaming. It’s a “control option that utilizes the built-in gyroscope of the Joy-Con” for more accurate aiming against enemies. You can also use the traditional controller set-up if you prefer to play that way.
Alongside the game’s robust single player campaign, the 2 on 1 online multiplayer Battlemode is also included, so players can pit humans against demons in an all-out battle for supremacy.
So make sure you have that Nintendo Switch Online subscription intact.
