So it’s been a few days now since Fall Guys came out for PlayStation 4 and PC. And it’s become an instant party favorite, an all-out competition akin to MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge. It has these weird little characters taking part in a number of mini-games, in an effort to see who’s the last thing standing.
The game is great fun, and there’s a very good reason for that. Not to mention some tips that will help you when it comes to making it to the next round. Heed them well.
You Don’t Need Huge Experience To Play Fall Guys
One big advantage to a game like this is that anyone can be a winner from it. It’s not like Fortnite where a world of experience does you any good. Instead, you can jump into the fray no matter what your skill level in other games and compete just like the others.
The game has a simple control scheme – running, jumping and diving. These all come in handy when it comes to maneuvering around obstacles, such as moving walls and across platforms. In addition, there’s also some select taunts you can use, in case you feel like showing off to fellow players. Don’t get too much into these, though – you’re probably still a ways off from the finish line.
What’s more, just because you’re good at one type of game doesn’t mean you’re automatically guaranteed a win. The order is consistently mixed-up, so new mini-games come your way unpredictably. If you play enough, you might be able to master a good deal of them. But even then, you’re likely to run into a player that could easily throw you off course.
Win enough times and you’ll unlock a variety of skins for your character, ranging from bizarre chicken outfits to hilarious cactus costumes. With so many available, you can find a way to make your brazen warrior stand out from the pack. Fall Guys has a lot to offer, even with its small concept.
As far as tips go, here are a few suggestions to follow.
Keep an Eye On the Competition
There are so many competitors that start out in each match, so it’s hard to keep an eye on everyone. Still, for some games, watching what they’re doing can help you in the long run. For instance, one round has doors that need to be broken through. If you make them do the work, you can follow closely behind while everyone else tries to go through the fake ones. Same goes for discovering a hidden path on tiles that could easily break away, sending you falling right back to the starting point.
It’s not always a clear shot to the exit. Sometimes you have obstacles to consider; and sometimes there are competitive games you’ll have to master in order to score for your team.
Just take the rules in stride and be ready for, well, all sorts of competition. That’s the great thing about a game like this. Even if you lose, you still learned something for the next time around!
Master Jumping and Diving
Now, you might be thinking, “Do I really need both jump and dive functions in this game?” Yep, because they serve different purposes.
For example, jumping lets you get between platforms with ease, and also clear over bars that could knock you off your current perch. But diving is a bit different, as you can use it to quickly move out of harm’s way, should an obstacle be coming around.
What’s more, you can actually dive while you’re jumping in the air, giving you additional distance when necessary. When you have walls moving your way or you need to make it to another platform before one drops out on you, this can make a world of difference.
Master the two abilities, and you’ll see which one works best for you when it comes to getting out of a jam. You’ll thank us later.
Sometimes You Just Need To Be a Team Player
Though most of Fall Guys’ games are built on winning individually, there are also team sports that can come in handy for moving you and a certain few ahead. With these, you’ll want to work closely with your teammates, because you want to coordinate well enough that you can leave the other team in the dust.
For instance, with one particular game, you have to dive through platforms and land on the proper one in order to reach the finish line. But you must do so as a team, so it helps to communicate with your buddies so that you can all qualify, instead of losing and having to move on to a new game.
Remember, it’s not always about you. Well, by the end it kind of is, but getting there, you can team up with others and earn a sweet victory!
